Particularly \u2013 this has to be stressed \u2013 those that were not sanitized to please foreigners\u2019 palates. But this is also why it\u2019s tricky when you look for Thai food outside of Thailand since you\u2019re bound to get something that claims to be Thai, and yet not taste Thai at all.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"tiktok-embed\" cite=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@outragemag\/video\/7463099615596891399\" data-video-id=\"7463099615596891399\" style=\"max-width: 605px;min-width: 325px;\" >\n<section> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"@outragemag\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@outragemag?refer=embed\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@outragemag<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>#thaifood craving in #MetroManila? This is one of a handful of Thai restos\nin MOA, including Jatujak and Soi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So\u2026 how was it for us?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Soi-Chicken2-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9911\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Soi-Chicken2-819x1024.jpg 819w, https:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Soi-Chicken2-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Soi-Chicken2-768x960.jpg 768w, https:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Soi-Chicken2.jpg 864w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Una<\/em>, the place itself was not bad \u2013 e.g. it was\nclean, <em>walang sirang<\/em> furniture, Thai-inspired decoration, <em>et cetera<\/em>.\nYeah, the music playing wasn\u2019t Thai or even Thai-inspired, but at least the\noverall vibe was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ikalawa<\/em>, the place was not THAT busy. At least when we\nwent there, past lunch time, it was more empty than full.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ikatlo<\/em>, even if there weren\u2019t a lot of customers,\nservice was still slow. Don\u2019t get me wrong: the staff was nice. They were\nchatty. They provided you what you needed. <em>Et cetera<\/em>. But\u2026 they weren\u2019t\nalways there. As example: I had to stand to ask for the bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And lastly, the food\nwas\u2026 okay. But \u2013 take note \u2013 <em>hindi siya<\/em> memorable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We started with Som Tum (papaya salad with salted egg, \u20b1295), which tasted like it needed more palm sugar and lime. The addition of the salted egg was inspired, though, making this special. &nbsp;<\/li><li>The Pad Thai Soi (\u20b1495) was not bad, too. But it was not as flavorful, either. It was almost like the chef wanted to be safe\u2026 which sadly deprived us of the flavors we were looking for. But at least the noodles weren\u2019t overcooked, and there was acceptable amount of <em>sahog<\/em>, considering its price.<\/li><li>The Tom Yum (\u20b1485) was, perhaps, what disappointed Arthur most. Again, this wasn\u2019t bad; you can tell that they didn\u2019t use powder, but prepped this fresh. But it tasted\u2026 <em>kulang<\/em>\/lacking \u2013 e.g. of lemongrass, and galangal. Not really.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the end: Yep, it IS hard to look for good Thai resto in Metro Manila\u2026 or even in nearby provinces. But we continue looking anyway.
