Thanks to the never-ending price increases at the time of Bongbong Marcos, <\/strong>sa panahon ngayon, ano nga ba ang halaga ng <\/strong><\/em>\u20b11,000 k<\/strong>ung ang kilo ng kamatis pa lang ay lampas<\/strong><\/em> \u20b1200 <\/strong>na<\/strong><\/em>? And so when we see what we think are good deals, like steaks for around \u20b1500, <\/strong>lumalaki yung mata natin<\/strong><\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And this is how we\ndiscovered Sky Seafoods, known for offering pretty-looking affordable steaks\nand seafood in Caloocan City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So\u2026 how was our experience of it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Una<\/em>: The place is over an hour away from the City\nof Manila, where we came from. And this is also already using the expressways.\nMeaning, allocate extra time as well as extra budget for the tolls just to\ncheck this place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ikalawa<\/em>: No, they don\u2019t accept credit cards. And at\nleast when we went there, GCash wasn\u2019t working, either. Bring cash when you\nvisit; else be troubled by searching for ATM or whatever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ikatlo<\/em>: Some of the staff couldn\u2019t care less if you\u2019re\nthere or not. As an example, we had a hard time asking for information about\nthe nearest ATM so we could get cash. Once the orders were served, the waiters\nwere, at least, attentive. Truth: We wanted to walk out na<\/em>, yeah\u2026 but\nsince we spent time driving there, we\u2019re stuck into thinking that we may as\nwell just give the place a try na lang<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ika-apat<\/em>: Located at the corner of two streets, the place itself was\u2026 not bad. High-ceilinged, the place was well-ventilated, properly laid out, and have good AC (a few tables actually requested for from air-conditioners to be turned off because it was getting too cold). Just be warned about the toilet \u2013 i.e. it\u2019s clean, yes, but it looked like this was just added as an afterthought (complete with those blue tubo<\/em>\/pipes, et cetera<\/em>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally: How was the\nfood? We ordered Surf & Turf (ribeye steak with creamy garlic shrimp, \u20b1788);\nSteak & Pasta (\u20b1395); regular fries (\u20b165); and kilawing<\/em> tuna with\nrice (\u20b1229). So\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. At least the fries\nhere were not bad, since they didn\u2019t get soggy as Jollibee\u2019s fries could get.<\/li>
  2. The creamy garlic\nshrimp was also okay; not overcooked and so not rubbery at all.<\/li>
  3. The tuna was okay for\nArthur. But for me \u2013 who came from Mindanao, not too far from General Santos\nCity, the tuna capital of the country \u2013 it needed more asim<\/em>\/sourness.\nBut the rice that came with it was really good.<\/li>
  4. The steaks were the\nbig disappointment, though. We got thin slabs of meat that were not\nwell-seasoned, and seemed like they were pounded too much. Add to that the\nbuttery fats na natutulog<\/em> so that \u2013 by the end of the meal \u2013 they made\nwhat we were eating undesirable.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Lots of people came\nand went to Sky Seafoods while we were there (some even reserved tables). Which\nshould tell you of how popular this place is\/has become\u2026 perhaps particularly\nfor those in the area. I say: Good for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Alas, it\u2019s always to\neach his\/her own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    And nope\u2026 this one\nisn\u2019t in our list of babalikan<\/em> anytime soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With Marcos leading\nthe country, more affordable places like Sky Seafoods will gain more traction,\nfor sure. Let that not define what\u2019s good, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
