Experiencing pain is not normal; in fact, it is the body’s way of saying “that something is not right and is in need of attention,” according to Dr. Joy Luat-Inciong of the Pain Society Philippines. Luat-Inciong recommends for people to heed to experienced pain, be it through exercise or taking of medicines, such as pain killers.<\/p>\n

To provide a fast and effective solution to pain sufferers, GlaxoSmithKline has brought to the Philippines Panadol with Optizorb, a paracetamol based analgesic that provides fast, effective temporary relief of pain and discomfort associated with: headache, tension headache, period pain, cold and flu symptoms, migraine headache, muscular aches, arthritis\/osteoarthritis, backache, and toothache.<\/p>\n

Panadol also helps to reduce fever. It is also a good choice of pain reliever for people with sensitive stomachs, stomach ulcers and other stomach disorders. Panadol can also be used by breast feeding women, says GSK.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat makes Panadol with Optizorb truly different from other branded and generic paracetamol products is that it is the only product to contain Optizorb, which has revolutionized the way paracetamol tablets are dispersed in the body, so it allows paracetamol to reach the bloodstream more quickly and be carried to where it acts to fight pain, five times faster.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Luat-Inciong, it takes 40 to 45 minutes for standard Paracetamol to dissolve or break apart into smaller pieces called granules. It takes another 60 to 70 minutes for the granules to disintegrate or break into particles small enough to dissolve in the stomach. The particles are finally absorbed throughout the body and into the bloodstream \u2013 where the medicine can take effect, a process that can take 45 to 60 minutes.<\/p>\n

“Panadol with Optizorb dissolves five times faster, disintegrates in 12.9 minutes and delivers pain relief in 15 minutes,” said Luat-Inciong.<\/p>\n

In a brief chat with ZestMag.com, Yulo revealed that GSK will be bringing other variants of Panadol to the country in the future. Panadol with Optizorb is known as Panadol Advance in other countries.<\/p>\n

“[The pain relief market] is a big market. There are a lot of players; but with the different brands we have, we’re looking at a bigger pain market.”<\/p>\n

Paracetamol should be used as directed in product information. The maximum dose within a 24-hour period must not be exceeded.
