The best dancers from all over the region brought their A-game, delivering performances that dazzled the audience, who wielded the power to choose the competition\u2019s winner.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Red\nBull Dance Your Style is a unique, global 1-on-1 street dance competition that\nbrings out each dancer\u2019s individuality and creativity, and celebrates the\ndiversity of their dance styles. Unlike other dance competitions, Red Bull\nDance Your Style challenges dancers to show off their improvisational expertise\nand freestyle dance moves to unpredictable songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For\nits third year in the Philippines, Red Bull Dance Your Style extended the\nsearch for the country\u2019s top dance talents to Mindanao. This culminated in the\nfirst-ever qualifiers in Davao held last June 29 at Club Echelon in Davao City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sixteen\ndancers from the region took to the dance floor and unleashed their impressive\nmoves and creativity with REPETER (Peter Nugas III), MJ (MJ Mejos), MSTR PIECE\n(Regie Harris Lavestre), and R3DMAN (Edrian Alcaria) dancing their way to the\nTop 4. In the end, R3DMAN took home the trophy. His unique style and prowess\nleft the audience in awe, earning him the title. Both R3DMAN and MSTR PIECE, as\nfirst and second place winners respectively, secured their spots in the\nNational Finals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s\nvery overwhelming,\u201d said R3DMAN. \u201cI didn\u2019t know what to feel. Earlier, when the\nchampion was called, I was dazed. It felt like a dream for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>R3DMAN\nadmitted he was not fully prepared for the competition as he had limited time\nto get ready. \u201cThe preparation was really quick; I only had two days to prepare\nbecause of school and work.\u201d He also shared that he rarely participated in\ndance battles, preferring to choreograph rather than perform. \u201cThis is actually\nmy fourth battle, which is why I still consider myself a rookie,\u201d he added.\n\u201cWhat I did was believe in myself and enjoy the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His\nwin is not the end as he gears up for the next round of the competition. R3DMAN\nshared that one of the things he wants to work on is his endurance. \u201cThe\npreparation will be intense. I feel like I\u2019m going to battle with myself as\nwell for consistency, which is what I really need to work on.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Present\nat the event was dance consultant Lema Diaz of the Philippine All-Stars. \u201cI\u2019ve\nbeen coming to Davao since 2006 to 2008, I know how great the dance artists are\nin Davao and Mindanao,\u201d she remarked. \u201cAs a dance consultant, we make sure that\nwe visit Davao or any place in Mindanao to find the best representative for the\nPhilippines in the World Finals in Mumbai.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diaz\nclaimed that R3DMAN\u2019s performance throughout the competition was truly one of\nthe highlights of the Davao qualifier. \u201cSeeing him live, seeing him go through\nrounds, just the mastery of his own style is there,\u201d said Diaz. \u201cHe can put his\nown personality, the ease of listening to the music, and the conversation he\nhas with the audience and opponent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She\nadded, \u201cHe\u2019s really entertaining to watch, which is why I\u2019m excited for Manila\nto witness him, for the whole Philippines to witness him, to have an exchange\nwith the other dancers, because it\u2019s going to be inspiring.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As\nthe Davao qualifier wraps up, the excitement builds for the next round of\nqualifiers happening in Cebu on July 13 at APEX Super Club. Diaz conveyed her\nenthusiasm for the upcoming rounds, saying, \u201c(Dancers) elevate in a week, two\nweeks, three, and four weeks. What more in a year?\u201d She added, \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m\nso excited to see how high the level has become and how many people are coming\nbecause we\u2019re growing.\u201d Diaz also expressed her eagerness to see both new faces\nand familiar ones returning to compete on the dance floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along\nwith Diaz, fans of the competition are eagerly awaiting more incredible\nperformances and unforgettable moments as dancers from across the Philippines\nvie for their chance to shine at the world stage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t\nmiss a beat!
