Their electricity bill will likely be higher than usual next months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are tips from Power Wizard:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Consumers should check they are not overpaying.<\/strong>\u00a0Monitor your bills to see what&#8217;s there &#8211; perhaps now more than ever.<\/li><li><strong>Keep energy costs down in the kitchen.<\/strong>\u00a0Think about serving cereal and yogurt for breakfast instead of eggs and oatmeal to limit the use of appliances.\u00a0 At lunchtime, stick to salads and sandwiches.<\/li><li><strong>Reduce cooling costs<\/strong>. With weather warming up and a house full of people, consumers may be tempted to crank the A\/C. Keep the thermostat at 78 degrees, use fans, and close shades during the day.<\/li><li><strong>Cut back on hot water usage.<\/strong>\u00a0Hot water is the second-largest home energy expense, according to the\u00a0US Department of Energy. Trim a few minutes off of showering and wash laundry in warm or cold water.<\/li><li><strong>Manage screen time.<\/strong>\u00a0Everyone at home means screen time is up.
