And rightly so, with its (start the clich\u00e9s associated with being a tropical paradise) blue waters mirroring the sky, sugar-fine white sand, <em>et cetera<\/em>\u2026 After all, when in this place identified by so many international bodies as a must-visit (particularly in Southeast Asia, if not the whole world), you are certain to be at a loss for word to describe how beauteous a place can be.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Fairways2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2764\" src=\"http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Fairways2.jpg\" alt=\"Fairways2\" width=\"622\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Fairways2.jpg 622w, https:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Fairways2-300x208.jpg 300w, https:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Fairways2-50x35.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Add to this the \u201cconversion\u201d mostly of White Beach as a party scene, with so many flocking particularly at specific dates when the island becomes a party haven (e.g. LaBoracay during Labor Day), and you have a place that is certain to guarantee fun in and out of the waters\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Due to the emphasis on these, though \u2013 i.e. Boracay being a tropical paradise, and being a party place \u2013 so many of the other activities that can be had there can be missed. And I tell you, there are more than can be counted.<\/p>\n<p>Here are \u2013 at least \u2013 eight things you can do when in Boracay (aside from just going swimming to savor the \u201cparadise-ness\u201d of the place, or partying when the sun sets):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Paraw sailing<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For those familiar with how the beach area of White Beach has evolved in the last, say, 20 years, I\u2019m sure you can still recall when the <em>bangka<\/em> (dinghies) were allowed to \u201cpark\u201d right in front of White Beach (for loading and unloading of passengers\/tourists). But when the wharf was moved elsewhere, this was barred.<\/p>\n<p>But nowadays, particularly just before sunset, water vehicles abound by the beach (again), this time for tourists who want to be on the waters to watch, say, the sunset. As it affords unobstructed views of the same, this one\u2019s worth experiencing.<\/p>\n<p>Note that rates vary; so learn to haggle.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Drive AVT<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Boracay is a beach, right? Yes\u2026 and no. Inland, there\u2019s a world worth discovering; and one of the best ways to do this is by driving all terrain vehicles (ATV). Pay a fee of P600 to drive the ATV for approximately two hours (the fee includes entrances to the Aviary and Ocean Tower). Can\u2019t drive? Don\u2019t worry; you\u2019ll be briefed on how to do this (and no license is required).<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Segway<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Head to Fairways &amp; Bluewater, a 150-hectare property occupying 10% of the whole island of Boracay, to experience what was once considered as the \u201calternative mode of transportation of the future\u201d (that scooter-like equipment from \u201cMall Cop\u201d). A total of six (6) Segway machines are inside Fairways &amp; Bluewater. IT HAS SOME OF THE OFF-THE-TRACK OFFERINGS ON THE ISLAND, INCLUDING SEGWAY RIDING, HORSEBACK RIDING AND ZIP LINING.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Horseback riding<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>At Fairways &amp; Bluewater, the horseback riding trail goes all the way from the Family Clubhouse to the Back 9 of the golf course \u2013 in total lasting for an hour or so. We\u2019ve all seen horses running by the beach (e.g. Remember the \u201c<em>Huntsman<\/em>\u201d? Or even \u201c<em>Pinakamagandang Hayop sa Balat ng Lupa<\/em>\u201d? Or even the White Castle Whiskey ads?), and know how beautiful \u2013 if not poetic \u2013 this can be. Here\u2019s a chance to experience that.<\/p>\n<p>There are seven horses available for horseback riding activities. With this number, there are enough horses to take families or couples in pre-determined horseback riding paths around the resort.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Try the zip line<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Still inside Fairways &amp; Bluewater is a zip line that measures 620 meters long. So for those who want a bird\u2019s eye view of parts of the island, this is a chance to do this.<\/p>\n<p>Outsiders can book any of the activities inside the resort through Fairways &amp; Bluewater\u2019s Guest Services Department.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong>Helmet diving<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Turning into a mermaid (by renting those \u201ctails\u201d) is already a known activity in Boracay. But here\u2019s another chance to be one of the seas creatures (not just be one with them): helmet diving. For P500, you can dress to mimic someone from \u201c20,000 Leagues Under the Sea\u201d, walk underwater, feed the fish, <em>et cetera<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li><strong>Jet ski<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This is one of the costlier activities, with fees starting at P1,000 for (only) 15 minutes. But if you\u2019ve ever seen a James Bond movie, and have ever wanted to know how it feels like to \u201cdrive\u201d on water, this is your chance to do so.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li><strong>Parasailing<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Yet another costly activity in Boracay (around P1,800 to P2,500 for 15 minutes), this is \u2013 nonetheless \u2013 an activity that is worth considering, particularly by couples (or even close friends). After all, just how many times can one get off the land (the Wright brothers would be so proud!); and be able to take selfies doing so?<\/p>\n<p>See, Boracay may be well known now for its waters that never fail to lure; or even for its wild, wild parties that people flock to particularly on specific seasons.
