{"id":251,"date":"2012-03-07T09:27:19","date_gmt":"2012-03-07T09:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/?p=251"},"modified":"2015-03-08T03:56:54","modified_gmt":"2015-03-08T03:56:54","slug":"how-to-be-your-own-aesthetician","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/how-to-be-your-own-aesthetician\/","title":{"rendered":"How to be your own aesthetician"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Writing in About.com, Anita Brown, co-writer of the <em>New York Times<\/em> bestseller <em>1,000 Places To See in the USA and Canada Before You Die<\/em>, enumerated the benefits of facial, particularly its allowing you to work with a professional skin care specialist (an aesthetician) who, after analyzing your skin, will help you improve your complexion, and, best of all, show you how to take proper care of your skin on your own.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Facial-Products.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-252\" title=\"Facial Products\" src=\"http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Facial-Products.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"622\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Facial-Products.jpg 622w, https:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Facial-Products-300x155.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A facial \u2013 the second most popular spa service, following massage \u2013 exactly because its beneficial, doesn\u2019t come cheaply, though, and can cost well beyond P3,000 per session, with the prices fluctuating according to the aesthetician and his\/her location. \u00a0Fortunately, and here\u2019s the best thing, you can actually use basic ingredients found around the house to make your own simple, hydrating masks, similar to what aestheticians usually use.<\/p>\n<p>Here are select concoctions just for you.<\/p>\n<h1>All Skin Types<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Oatmeal and Yogurt<br \/> <\/strong>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 tbsp Oatmeal (finely ground)<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp Organic yogurt (flavour-less, of course)<\/li>\n<li>A few Drops of honey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preparation:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Place the oatmeal in a small bowl. Add the yogurt. Mix well together.<\/li>\n<li>Warm a spoon under hot water, then pour a few drops of honey on the spoon. After warming, stir the honey into the oatmeal and yogurt mix.<\/li>\n<li>Apply the mask to the face, leaving it on for 10 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Rinse off with several splashes of warm water, following with a warm washcloth.<\/li>\n<li>Finish by applying a thin layer of moisturizer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Yogurt Face Mask<\/strong><br \/> Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 tbsp Yogurt (non-fat, and room temperature)<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp Honey (make it runny by microwaving for a few minutes to soften hardened honey)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preparation:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Simply combine the ingredients, and then apply to face.<\/li>\n<li>Let sit for 15 minutes before wash face with steaming washcloth.<\/li>\n<li>Finish by applying a thin layer of moisturizer.<\/li>\n<li>Variations: For dry skin, use an extra tsp of honey; and for oily skin, add a few drops of fresh lime juice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1>Oily Skin<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Banana Mask<br \/> <\/strong>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 Ripe banana<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp Honey<\/li>\n<li>Dash of orange, lemon or ponkana juice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preparation:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mix the banana and honey together.<\/li>\n<li>Add a few drops of juice from an orange, lemon or ponkana.<\/li>\n<li>Apply to face for 15 minutes before rinsing with a cool washcloth or a steaming warm washcloth.<\/li>\n<li>Apply a thin layer of moisturizer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1>Dry Skin<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Avocado Mask<\/strong><br \/> Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00bd Avocado<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc Cup honey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preparation:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A classic recipe for mature, wrinkled and dry skin, mainly because avocados and honey are particularly moisturizing, mash the avocado in a bowl (be sure to make it creamy) before stirring in the honey.<\/li>\n<li>Apply to the face.<\/li>\n<li>Leave on for 10 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Rinse face with a cool washcloth.<\/li>\n<li>Apply a thin layer of moisturizer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Milk Mask<\/strong><br \/> Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 tsp Powdered milk<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp Runny honey<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp Aloe Vera gel<\/li>\n<li>2 Drops essential oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preparation:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mix ingredients well.<\/li>\n<li>Apply to face, letting sit for 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Wash off with warm water.<\/li>\n<li>Finish by applying a thin layer of moisturizer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1>Aging Skin<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Sugar as Exfoliant<\/strong><br \/> Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 tbsp Sugar<\/li>\n<li>3 tbsp Warm water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preparation:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Stir sugar into warm water; let it melt. Make sure the granules are well dissolved, or they could tear, or at least scratch, your skin.<\/li>\n<li>Apply to the face, gently massaging on the skin.<\/li>\n<li>Rinse with warm water.
