So we checked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/loloclaros\">Lolo Claro\u2019s Restaurant<\/a> in Cavite City, one of those restos that can claim that it was built by, yep, friend chicken.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How was Lolo Claro\u2019s Restaurant for us?<\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"tiktok-embed\" cite=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@outragemag\/video\/7632899285117521160\" data-video-id=\"7632899285117521160\" style=\"max-width: 605px;min-width: 325px;\" >\n<section> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"@outragemag\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@outragemag?refer=embed\">@outragemag<\/a> It claims to sell over 400 pcs of <a title=\"friedchicken\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/friedchicken?refer=embed\">#friedchicken<\/a> per day, so <a title=\"loloclaros\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/loloclaros?refer=embed\">#LoloClaros<\/a> in <a title=\"cavite\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/cavite?refer=embed\">#Cavite<\/a> must be good, no? We <a title=\"lgbt\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/lgbt?refer=embed\">#LGBT<\/a> checked this former <a title=\"mami\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/mami?refer=embed\">#mami<\/a> house turned <a title=\"restaurant\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/restaurant?refer=embed\">#restaurant<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"\u266c original sound  - Outrage Magazine\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/music\/original-sound-Outrage-Magazine-7632899329963526920?refer=embed\">\u266c original sound  &#8211; Outrage Magazine<\/a> <\/section>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Una<\/em>, as background, this place is somewhat historical. Started over 25 years ago by Bernie Ilagan in honor of his late <em>kutsero<\/em> (horse carriage driver) grandfather, it used to just be a food stall that sold <em>mami<\/em>, among others, but eventually grew to have multiple branches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ikalawa<\/em>, the branch we visited was easy to find, as it\u2019s along a major road in Cavite City. Yeah, public transport passed the area. And there\u2019s ample open-air parking for those with private vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ikatlo<\/em>, the resto is <em>luma<\/em> (antiquated). This should also serve as a warning since there, tabletops are peeling, corners are soiled, walls have who-knows-what prints, and so on. The squeamish may say it borders on\u2026 dirty, and they won\u2019t be completely wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ika-apat<\/em>, the staff was perfunctory \u2013 e.g. you have to pester them to clean a table for you, or follow-up an order, <em>et cetera<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ikalima<\/em>, how were the offerings?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Claro\u2019s Fried Chicken (\u20b1275 for half, \u20b1475 for whole) was similar to Max\u2019s chicken \u2013 e.g. not that big and not over-fried, but not that tasty and quite dry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <em>chopsuey<\/em> (\u20b1290) was\u2026 peculiar. Think deconstructed, and you\u2019d have an idea of their version \u2013 i.e. the veggies were steamed or boiled, and the sauce was just poured on top before serving. Good for those who just like steamed veggies; but for those who want <em>chopsuey<\/em> the traditional way, this isn\u2019t gonna please you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <em>kare-kare <\/em>(\u20b1360) needed more oomph; <em>kulang sa lasa<\/em>. But at least you get enough <em>laman<\/em>, from the meat slices to the veggies. And yeah, the <em>bagoong<\/em> (shrimp paste) was good\u2026 even if they didn\u2019t serve a lot.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Lolo Claro\u2019s Restaurant was packed when we visited; we actually had to wait for a table to be vacated before we could eat. So this is a popular resto, indeed. I can\u2019t, and won\u2019t, justify this; to each his own. But we have reservations\u2026 with the venue, the staff, the food\u2026 And so off we go in search of more <em>lafangan<\/em> venues\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Lolo Claro\u2019s Restaurant is located at Governor&#8217;s Drive corner Naic Indang Road, Cavite City.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It claims to sell over 400 pieces of #friedchicken per day, so Lolo Claro&#8217;s must be good, no?
