{"id":9781,"date":"2024-11-20T13:35:38","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T05:35:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/?p=9781"},"modified":"2024-11-20T13:35:55","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T05:35:55","slug":"manulife-philippines-showcases-sustainability-and-community-initiatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/manulife-philippines-showcases-sustainability-and-community-initiatives\/","title":{"rendered":"Manulife Philippines showcases sustainability and community initiatives"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Manulife Philippines, the local arm of the international financial services company Manulife, hosted global colleagues for its first-ever \u2018Impact Agenda Adventure\u2019 \u2014 a hands-on, six-day experience that underscored the tangible real-world impact of Manulife\u2019s sustainability, financial literacy, and community initiatives across the Philippines. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several colleagues\nfrom around the globe were selected to participate in the Adventure after\nsubmitting a personal story where they shared what&nbsp;<em>Better<\/em>&nbsp;means to them, connecting their own&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.manulife.com\/en\/about\/better.html\"><em>Better&nbsp;<\/em><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.manulife.com\/en\/about\/better.html\">story<\/a>\nto Manulife\u2019s mission and purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manulife\u2019s Impact\nAgenda focuses on three interconnected pillars of social and environmental\ncommitments: empowering sustained health and well-being, driving inclusive\neconomic opportunities, and accelerating a sustainable future. The \u2018Impact\nAgenda Adventure\u2019 showcased Manulife&#8217;s deep commitment to its Impact Agenda in\nthe Philippines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cManulife\u2019s Impact\nAgenda is about taking collective action to accelerate change. It highlights\nour key social and environmental commitments,\u201d said <strong>Sarah Chapman, Global Chief Sustainability Officer, Manulife<\/strong>.\n\u201cThrough our community investments in the Philippines, we hope to create a\nbetter business that contributes to a better world and share that with our\ncolleagues globally.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Impact Agenda\nAdventure is a powerful demonstration of how our community partnerships in the\nPhilippines create real impact and uplift communities, showcasing our\ndedication to improving the lives of Filipinos,\u201d said <strong>Rahul Hora, President and Chief Executive Officer, Manulife\nPhilippines.<\/strong> \u201cWe are delighted to host our global colleagues as they\nwitness firsthand the significant difference Manulife is making in our\ncommunities.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strengthening Partnerships with Community-based NGOs <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Impact Agenda\nAdventure highlighted the following initiatives: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Financial Literacy:<\/em><\/strong> Participants visited one of Manulife Philippines\u2019 partner schools as\npart of the <em>Peso Smart<\/em> financial\nliteracy program, in partnership with Corazon Sanchez Atayde Memorial\nFoundation, to observe how Manulife\u2019s commitment to financial education is\nequipping young Filipinos with essential financial skills, such as saving,\nbudgeting, and investing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Agriculture,\nSustained Health, and Poverty Alleviation:<\/em><\/strong>\nParticipants toured the Gawad Kalinga (GK) headquarters in Mandaluyong City,\nwhere they learned about Manulife\u2019s efforts to promote organic agriculture\nthrough the Community Food Farm program and poverty alleviation initiatives.\nMore than 120 Filipino families have benefited from the program, which provides\nfamilies with the opportunity to grow their own produce in their villages,\nallowing them to sell any surplus for additional income. Participants also\nengaged in a soap-making activity facilitated by Hands On Manila, a Manulife\ncommunity investment partner that provides public school students access to\ndaily nutritious meals, conducts health screenings for malnourished and\nundernourished children, and provides meal planning support through the help of\nlicensed nutritionists.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Environmental Sustainability:<\/em><\/strong> Participants contributed to Manulife\u2019s sustainability efforts through\nseedling preparation to aid in reforestation alongside Haribon Foundation.
