In the world of corporate social responsibility, Sun Life Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Sun Life Philippines, stands as one of the entities rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a chance at a better life. The Foundation is dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities across the Philippines through initiatives on education, health, and environmental sustainability.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At its core, Sun Life Foundation\nembodies the essence of \u201cbayanihan,\u201d rallying communities, organizations, and\nindividuals to join hands in driving positive change where it is needed most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leading this endeavor is Kristine\nDianne Millete, fondly known as Tin, as the Executive Director of Sun Life\nFoundation. With a wealth of experience under her belt and a deep-seated\npassion for creating lasting impact, Tin is the driving force behind the\nFoundation’s mission to create a brighter, more equitable future for all\nFilipinos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since assuming leadership in 2017, Tin\nhas steered Sun Life Foundation through numerous projects, each aimed at\ncreating solutions for pressing social issues. Two notable initiatives are its\nflagship programs: Sun Pera-Aralan and Sun Life Barangay Health Stations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sun Pera-Aralan is a financial\nmanagement program created in partnership with AHA! Behavioral Design that aims\nto increase financial self-efficacy among public school teachers. This involves\napplying positive and practical money behaviors that can be incorporated in\ntheir daily lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sun Life Barangay Health Stations\nis an initiative in partnership with Health Futures Foundation, Inc. to provide\nmore communities with access to primary healthcare in far-flung areas of the\ncountry. Building on a holistic approach, every barangay health station\nconstructed will be implementing a community-based health and wellness program\nto equip the local health workers with the right knowledge and practice to\nprovide care, which will help build health-empowered and self-reliant\ncommunities. Last year, seven of the centers were equipped with diabetes\ncorners to kickstart the initiatives on diabetes awareness and prevention to\nhelp address the issue of rising cases of the disease in the Philippines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through these initiatives, along with\nmany other programs, the Sun Life Foundation touched 464,000 lives in 2023,\ngiving the partner communities a chance at a better and more sustainable way of\nliving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, Tin has crafted a\nstrategic roadmap for Sun Life Foundation’s future endeavors that prioritizes\nlong-term sustainability and impactful community engagement. Through\npartnerships with like-minded institutions and the creation of targeted initiatives,\nthe Foundation aims to utilize its unique position in improving the lives of\nunderserved Filipinos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
