Research by the Eating Disorders Coalition indicates that eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, with only 1 in 10 people seeking treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Eating disorders are more than just a weight issue, however. After analyzing data from 465 people who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder, research by Queendom reveals that eating disorders are both a physical and psychological battle.<\/p>\n<p>According to Queendom\u2019s study:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"releaseul\">\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a045% of individuals diagnosed with an eating disorder have low self-confidence.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a058% believe that they will never be loved unless they have a perfect body.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a056% crave other people\u2019s approval.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a040% have a pessimistic outlook about their life and their future.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a070% ruminate excessively and obsess about problems in their life.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a056% find that their life is too stressful or difficult.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a072% tend to have difficult overcoming failure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Queendom\u2019s study also indicates that eating disorder sufferers are more likely to experience symptoms of depression and\/or anxiety, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"releaseul\">\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Persistent feelings of emptiness (63%)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Loss of interest in activities that they used to enjoy (50%)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Tendency to cry for no apparent reason (52%)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Feelings of worthlessness (53%)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Feelings of sadness (60%)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Feeling like they have nothing to look forward to (47%)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Feeling like they are losing control (69%)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Tendency to focus on upsetting situations or events (63%)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Chronic worrying (73%)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Fear of what the future will bring (61%)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Edginess and tension (63%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWhen it comes to eating disorders, we need to treat more than the physical repercussions, like nutritional deficiencies and unhealthy body weight,\u201d explains <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prweb.net\/Redirect.aspx?id=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5saW5rZWRpbi5jb20vaW4vaWxvbmFqZXJhYmVr\" rel=\"nofollow\">Dr. Jerabek<\/a>, president of PsychTests, the company that runs Queendom.com. \u201cIt\u2019s unclear as to whether depression and anxiety are precursors to eating disorders or vice versa.
