However, this idyllic destination in the southeastern region of the\nPhilippines is facing threats due to plastic pollution and environmental\ndegradation. In response, Blackbough recently organized a beach cleanup\ncampaign to protect Siargao Island and raise awareness among locals and\ntourists alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ty pointed out, \u201cBy 2050, there\u2019s a good chance that we\u2019ll see more plastic in the ocean than fish. The company is committed to reducing its\nenvironmental footprint by using\nrecycled nylon, investing in ethical factories, repurposing scrap fabrics to\naccessories, and incorporating recyclable and reusable packaging options.\nBy offering stylish and eco-friendly swimwear, Blackbough encourages customers\nto make more sustainable choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt Blackbough,\nwe believe that every journey towards sustainability begins with a single step.\nLeveraging Blackbough\u2019s global presence, we aim to showcase the beauty of our\nPhilippine islands and the importance of taking care of them.\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The beach cleanup\nevent took place at Malinao Beach, General Luna drawing over a hundred\nvolunteers from diverse backgrounds, including tourists, locals, and\nstakeholders. Their collective effort resulted in the removal of 100 sacks of\nplastic waste and debris, offering participants a firsthand perspective on the\ndetrimental effects of pollution on the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Blackbough\nteam, composed of young,\ncreative, and passionate individuals who champion various causes such as marine\nlife conservation and environmental preservation, includes team members\nbased on Siargao Island. Ty acknowledged their commitment, saying, \u201cSiargao is\nnot just a location for us; it\u2019s also home to many of our amazing team members.\nI recognize that it\u2019s my responsibility to contribute positively to the\ncommunities and societies where we operate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond cleaning\nup the beach, Blackbough&#8217;s campaign is a call to arms for travelers,\nenvironmental enthusiasts, and conscious consumers to begin their\nsustainability journey. Siargao Island is just the starting point for\nBlackbough\u2019s beach cleanup initiatives, marking the launch of their Clean Beach\nCampaign, a series of beach cleanup activities in collaboration with various\nlocal communities across the Philippine islands as part of Blackbough\u2019s\nadvocacy for sustainability and environmental protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ty believes in\nbeing proactive when it comes to addressing environmental issues. Ty\nemphasized, \u201cI think that we should not wait for our beaches to reach a\ncritical level of degradation before we act. We hope for everyone\u2019s support as\nwe pursue our mission to protect the country\u2019s beaches. Together, we can make a\nlasting impact and inspire others to join us on this journey.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of its journey towards sustainability, Blackbough has launched a fundraising drive dubbed <em>\u201cDonate to Clean our Coasts\u201d <\/em>on its website&#8217;s checkout page, running until mid-October. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised through this campaign will be dedicated to supporting the International Coastal Cleanup Philippines, a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to cleaning up marine debris and promoting ocean conservation.
