This is according to a study by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which conducted a survey of 225 women, who showed that expectations were met or exceeded in 98% of cases, and also reported many cases of improved self-esteem and quality of life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Breast-augmentation.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-581\" alt=\"Breast augmentation\" src=\"http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Breast-augmentation.jpg\" width=\"622\" height=\"397\" srcset=\"http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Breast-augmentation.jpg 622w, http:\/\/zestmag.com\/online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Breast-augmentation-300x191.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Surgeon Dr. Tom Pousti, a San Diego and La Jolla Plastic Surgeon with <a title=\"Pousti Plastic Surgery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.poustiplasticsurgery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pousti Plastic Surgery<\/a>, said: \u201cThis study is valuable in providing information about the benefits of breast augmentation\u2026 Patient satisfaction is the most important measure of surgical success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Women with an average age of 34 were interviewed at least once a month for the five years following surgery. On a 10 point scale, the women reported an average pain score during recovery of 5.9, used prescription pain medication for five days and were off work seven days. Patients felt they were \u2018back to normal\u2019 around 25 days after surgery.<\/p>\n<p>The survey found 85% of women rated their new breast size as \u201cjust right\u201d while 13% would have preferred a larger size. Only 1% expressed dissatisfaction with their scars, which were usually located in the crease under the breast.<br \/> Nearly 40% of women surveyed experienced at least temporary nipple numbness after surgery and persistent numbness was reported by only 2%.<\/p>\n<p>Breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the US alone.
