Focus on the ceiling AKA the fifth wall.<\/p>\n<p>McBride partnered with VELUX Skylights this spring to refresh her guest room, starting with\u00a0<a class=\"linkOnClick\" href=\"http:\/\/www.laurenmcbrideblog.com\/2017\/05\/how-to-update-fifth-wall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-include=\"300518844\">replacing her existing skylights<\/a>\u00a0with two\u00a0<a class=\"linkOnClick\" href=\"http:\/\/whyskylights.com\/choosing\/solar-powered-fresh-air-skylights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-include=\"300518844\">VELUX No Leak Solar Powered &#8220;Fresh Air&#8221; Skylights<\/a>\u00a0with light filtering blinds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our guest room has a beautiful vaulted ceiling, and I wanted to accentuate it to the best of my ability, so it really stands out,&#8221; McBride said. &#8220;Updating the skylights meant we not only have beautiful natural light in the room, but also added functionality: blinds to control the light and the ability to open the skylights with a remote control to bring in fresh air.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>McBride took advantage the of the natural light streaming in from above to highlight the faux shiplap painted white on the ceiling. This added detail gives the room a fresh, coastal, relaxed vibe.
