As parents, you have a lot more influence over them than most others – for their first ten years or so, at least. The trouble is, not all these influences are going to be positive. In fact, some of your bad habits could well lead to them growing up with similar issues.

In today’s guide, we’re going to go through several common bad habits that might be influencing your children for the worst. Read on to find out more – and begin to understand how you are shaping their minds.

Dieting

Are you always starting new diets? If so, it might be giving your kids a negative message about food. We all want our children to eat as healthily as possible, of course. But, we want them to do it all the time, without ruining their relationship with food. If you are always trying out the latest extreme diet, they will notice. And, there’s every chance that they will start following your lead.

Money issues

If you aren’t very good with money, there’s a good chance your children will suffer the same problems when they grow up. It’s vital to teach your kids about the value of money from an early stage, or they will enter adult life at a disadvantage. When they hit eighteen or go to university, they will have a flood of credit card offers, for example. Unless they know how to deal with things like interest, they could find themselves in a lot of debt. So, if you are bad with money, it’s time to make a change. Not only will it improve your financial situation, but it will give your kids a chance, too.

Smoking

Give up smoking if you have children – it’s that simple. Your kids are twice as likely to start smoking if you do – and they will be doing it sooner than you think. 90% of smokers started the habit when they were children, and there is nothing more dangerous to their health. So, try and quit for your health – and for the future of your kids. Look around at some of the best e cig options out there instead, or use nicotine inhalers or gum. It will help take the edge off your addiction, and you help you make the break.

Not doing exercise

Are you a sporty family, or do you avoid all forms of exercise like the plague? If it’s the former, keep it up – you are doing your kids a lot of favors. If it’s the latter, however, then your children might run into problems in later life. 5-10-year-olds need a minimum of one hour exercise every day. So, get up off the couch and go and do some more physical activities with your children., It doesn’t have to be jogging or gym work. You can do fun stuff like paintballing or wall climbing. As long as you are getting out and about, you will be teaching your kids the value – and fun – of exercise.

In today’s guide, we’re going to go through several common bad habits that might be influencing your children for the worst.
