Check out La Cosina Antonio"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While traveling from Batangas City on the way to Paete, Laguna after an Intersex 101 training workshop, intersex activist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/jeff.cagandahan\">Jeff Cagandahan<\/a> worried where he\u2019d feed us. And then, after a quick discussion with his wife, he suggested <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LaCosinaAntonio\/\">La Cosina Antonio<\/a>, which is apparently a must-check resto in the Municipality of Pila in the province of Laguna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So we went there, and\u2026 how was it for us?<\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"tiktok-embed\" cite=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@outragemag\/video\/7681672762909379860\" data-video-id=\"7681672762909379860\" style=\"max-width: 605px;min-width: 325px;\" >\n<section> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"@outragemag\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@outragemag?refer=embed\">@outragemag<\/a> <a title=\"lgbt\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/lgbt?refer=embed\">#LGBT<\/a> wandering in <a title=\"pila\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/pila?refer=embed\">#Pila<\/a>, <a title=\"laguna\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/laguna?refer=embed\">#Laguna<\/a>? You may as well try <a title=\"lacosinaantonio\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/lacosinaantonio?refer=embed\">#LaCosinaAntonio<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"\u266c original sound  - Outrage Magazine\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/music\/original-sound-Outrage-Magazine-7681673108452903698?refer=embed\">\u266c original sound  &#8211; Outrage Magazine<\/a> <\/section>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Una<\/em>, this is really only convenient to access by locals, or those with private vehicles. Pila, if you must know, is one of the oldest settlements in the Philippines. It is, nonetheless, still largely provincial. And so this place is <em>dadayuhin<\/em>; you need to intentionally go there as it\u2019s not on the way to major destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Ikalawa<\/em>, the actual venue is BIG. This one\u2019s an old house converted into a resto with different parts \u2013 e.g. for dining, for drinking complete with a performance space for a band, venue spaces, and so on. La Cosina Antonio is, thankfully, well-kept, so that it\u2019s clean, has updated furniture, and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Ikatlo<\/em>, the staff was okay naman when we were there, able to discuss what\u2019s on the menu, make recommendations\u2026 and then prepare the orders and deliver them fast. Very home-y approach, actually, treating guests as regulars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Ika-apat<\/em>, how was the food?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u20b1375 Dinakdakan was actually good, the pork belly crispy, the chopped onions and green chilies fresh, and the calamansi-mayo dressing not overpowering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u20b1390 Sinigang na Hipon was\u2026 so-so, not bad though not good either. <em>Pampainit-tiyan<\/em>. Though, this has to be said, at least <em>di tinipid<\/em> in the number of shrimps served.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u20b1560 Garlic Pepper Whole Chicken was good; the meat stayed juicy even if the skin was crunchy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u20b1770 Crispy Pata was also good; crunchy skin and, yes, <em>malamang pata<\/em>. There are times when you get Crispy Pata that\u2019s basically just skin and bone, no meat at all. Here, we got meat\u2026 thankfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This place is popular, true (check their Facebook page, LOL). I can be dismissive and say that because, if in Pila, it\u2019s not like you have lots of choices. But truth be told, it\u2019s also because La Cosina Antonio actually has not-bad stuffs to offer\u2026 including the okay venue, okay service, and okay food. So check out if you can\u2026 or just join us as we look for more LGBTQIA+ <em>lafangan<\/em> venues\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><em>La Cosina Antonio is located along JP Rizal St., Barangay Sta.
