You need <em>malong<\/em> or <em>patadyong<\/em> as <em>pasalubong<\/em>? You need a <em>kulintang<\/em> not just as a musical instrument, but as d\u00e9cor? You need <em>batik<\/em>, or T\u2019boli ethnic apparel? You can find them all\u2026 and even more, in Aldevinco.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But here\u2019s the thing, particularly for those who do not know yet: the old Aldevinco, which was located along C.M. Recto Street and Roxas Avenue in Davao City, is no more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now\u2026 enter the new Aldevinco, this time located at Poblacion Market Central on C. Bangoy Street (former Madrazo Fruit Stand)\u2026 which isn\u2019t that far from the old place, actually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We checked, and here are some things worth noting.<\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"tiktok-embed\" cite=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@outragemag\/video\/7680123268128394517\" data-video-id=\"7680123268128394517\" style=\"max-width: 605px;min-width: 325px;\" >\n<section> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"@outragemag\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@outragemag?refer=embed\">@outragemag<\/a> <a title=\"pasalubong\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/pasalubong?refer=embed\">#Pasalubong<\/a> hunting in <a title=\"davao\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/davao?refer=embed\">#Davao<\/a>? Consider the new, pinasosyal <a title=\"aldevinco\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/aldevinco?refer=embed\">#Aldevinco<\/a> that may not have the grimy character of the old location but still is worth <a title=\"lgbt\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/lgbt?refer=embed\">#LGBT<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"\u266c original sound  - Outrage Magazine\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/music\/original-sound-Outrage-Magazine-7680123317379943188?refer=embed\">\u266c original sound  &#8211; Outrage Magazine<\/a> <\/section>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Una<\/em>, this place looks and feels new. The old Aldevinco had a <em>palengke<\/em> feel, but this one has a mall feel. So you have a high-ceilinged venue with better-arranged stores that are air-conditioned, and so on. <em>Pina-sosyal<\/em>, in a manner of speaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Ikalawa<\/em>, when there, the rules remain the same: haggle. The prices first quoted to you are not the actual prices the goods go for\u2026 unless you\u2019re too moneyed and you don\u2019t want to ask for discounts, though in that case, you shouldn\u2019t even be in Aldevinco at all. The more you buy (i.e. bulk buying), the lower the prices, obviously. But always haggle\u2026 even if only for the fun of doing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Ikatlo<\/em>, if you have time to spare, don\u2019t auto-buy from the first store you check. Tour the area and compare prices. Often, the goods sold in one store will also be offered in a different store. So move around before making a final decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And <em>ika-apat<\/em>, Aldevinco may be popular as the go-to place for <em>pasalubong<\/em>, but in truth this isn\u2019t the only one. <em>Halimbawa<\/em>, right across the old Aldevinco is a series of shops, some of them from the old Aldevinco. Because, at times, Aldevinco can feel like a tourist trap, and understandably, not everyone likes going into one. So consider your other options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the same, when in Davao, this is a place worth checking\u2026 if not for the shopping, then the food\u2026 or at least to check what happened to the tenants of the 60-year-old Aldevinco that was closed in December 2021, and is now being redeveloped into who-knows-what.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All part of rediscovery as we continue the LGBTQIA+ <em>rampa<\/em> wherever and everywhere\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Open from 9AM to 7PM (with the K\u016bk\u016b\u00f1 Food Hall open from 10AM to 9 PM), Aldevinco Shopping Center is located at Poblacion Market Central, C.
