And this is how this non-pretentious restaurant in Bacoor, Cavite came to our attention. Passing by some highway in the middle of the night, we came across Old Recipe, which boasts to sell \u201coriginal\u201d (open and close quotation) Ilonggo food, including <\/strong><em><strong>batchoy<\/strong><\/em><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"tiktok-embed\" cite=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@outragemag\/video\/7492034372225256712\" data-video-id=\"7492034372225256712\" style=\"max-width: 605px;min-width: 325px;\" >\n<section> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"@outragemag\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@outragemag?refer=embed\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@outragemag<\/a> The <a title=\"lgbt\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/lgbt?refer=embed\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#LGBT<\/a> search for <a title=\"ilonggo\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/ilonggo?refer=embed\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#Ilonggo<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"\u266c original sound  - Outrage Magazine\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/music\/original-sound-Outrage-Magazine-7492034440274397953?refer=embed\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u266c original sound  &#8211; Outrage Magazine<\/a> <\/section>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As FYI: This is supposedly an old resto, opening in 1988, though at first as Ilongga House. The name change happened in 2018, though the resto owned by Rufino Gallo must be doing something right since it now has a handful of branches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The branch we went to\nwas\u2026 nothing grand, even if it can seat around 80 pax. Old tables, old seats,\nand so on. You get the drift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The staff was at\nleast friendly; they even provided the info I sought for this quick review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the wait time was\n<em>sobra<\/em>. And to think we just ordered <em>batchoy<\/em> (the supreme sells\nfor \u20b1198, and if you add extras, you pay \u20b115 for an egg and \u20b118 for <em>chicharon<\/em>\nor <em>bawang<\/em>), as well as <em>pansit molo<\/em> (\u20b1168 for solo size). They\nhave a sizable menu; this is one of those restos that has too much to choose\nfrom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But to be extremely\nblunt, the food wasn\u2019t great. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the <em>batchoy<\/em>, you don\u2019t get a lot of noodles and <em>sahog<\/em>. And it was too watery so that the <em>batchoy<\/em> taste was just not there. The <em>pansit molo<\/em>, at least, had okay broth; but the pork dumplings tasted like they just came out of the freezer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery aligncenter columns-3 is-cropped resto I \u2013 personally \u2013 can see myself regularly going to. But I\nunderstand if others may like it, whether for after-<em>inuman sabaw<\/em>, or for\nthose wanting to try Ilonggo offerings particularly if they live nearby.
